Madrid and Rome have consolidated their positions as the European destinations most favoured by Latin American travellers, confirming the enduring appeal of Spain and Italy across the region’s leading outbound markets. An analysis of travel preferences in 2025 places the Community of Madrid in first position, accounting for 11.5% of demand, while the Italian region of Lazio, home to Rome, ranks second with 8.2%.

These results reflect the ability of both capitals to combine heritage, culture, gastronomy, shopping and entertainment within an offering suited to different traveller profiles. Madrid stands out for its museums, historic neighbourhoods, cultural calendar, culinary scene and vibrant urban atmosphere, while also serving as an important gateway to the continent. Rome, meanwhile, retains the power of its universally recognised heritage, allowing visitors to journey through centuries of history by exploring its monuments, squares, churches and archaeological sites.
