Panama offers free medical protection for ten days

17-09-2026

Panama has strengthened its strategy to attract international travellers by introducing a free insurance scheme that provides medical assistance and support for certain emergencies during the first ten days of their stay. Funded by the State through the Panama Tourism Authority, the initiative seeks to provide greater peace of mind to visitors and consolidate the country’s reputation as a safe, welcoming destination prepared to respond to unexpected situations.

The benefit is available to international tourists and Panamanian citizens residing abroad who legally enter the country by air. Coverage is activated automatically once travellers complete immigration procedures and receive their entry stamp. They are therefore not required to purchase the policy in advance, complete additional forms or make any payment. This simplicity is one of the programme’s most attractive features.
