The opening ceremony was also attended by Carlos Loayza, General Manager of CANATUR Peru; Liza Masías and Gabriel Meseth, representatives of Inkaterra; Lucciano Docarmo, representative of Michell Group–Sol Alpaca; and Chichi Wong, CANATUR Peru’s external adviser on relations with China.
Developed under CANATUR Peru’s leadership and coordination, the pavilion welcomes visitors into a space whose visual design brings together nature, technology and culture. Its immersive structure features suspended greenery, ancestral symbols and an aesthetic that evokes Peru’s biodiversity and heritage, complemented by a state-of-the-art virtual reality system.
The Peru Pavilion marks a milestone in relations between China and Peru, strengthening tourism, cultural and trade exchanges between the two countries. The Peruvian showcase brings together modernity, sustainability, innovation and tradition, positioning the country as a strategic partner in an increasingly digital world.
On the opening day, visitors explored a showcase of sustainable tourism in Peru, featuring Amazonian biodiversity, alpaca textile craftsmanship and travel experiences that reflect the country’s authentic character. The participation of CANATUR and its members reaffirms the sector’s commitment to expanding the international reach of Peruvian tourism and creating new opportunities for cooperation with Asian markets.
This participation also marks the launch of celebrations commemorating the institution’s 55th anniversary, on this occasion alongside its strategic members: Inkaterra, Sol Alpaca–Michell Group and LATAM Peru, all of which form part of the Peruvian delegation at this major international event.
Peru–China bilateral cooperation
CANATUR Peru’s participation in the 5th Global Digital Trade Expo was made possible by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Hangzhou Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism and the Yuhang District Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports during Peru Travel Mart 2026, held in May.
Through this initiative, CANATUR Peru is helping to strengthen the country’s presence in the Chinese market and create new opportunities for promotion and business partnerships. Participation in the Hangzhou expo will showcase the diversity of Peru’s offerings, bringing them to new audiences and prospective international partners.
